Are your products completely natural?

Yes, all Bonela Equine products are made using 100% natural ingredients. We carefully select botanical oils, essential oils, and other plant-based ingredients known for their therapeutic benefits. Our formulations are free from artificial fragrances, synthetic preservatives, harsh chemicals, and fillers—ensuring they're safe, gentle, and effective for both horses and dogs.

Can your products be used on other animals?

No, our products are specifically formulated for either horses or dogs and we do not recommend using our products on any other animals. Different species can have very different sensitivities—especially to essential oils. The essential oils and other natural ingredients used in each formulation are carefully selected based on the unique needs and tolerances of each species. What is safe for a horse or dog may be irritating or even harmful to other animals such as cats, rabbits, or livestock. For the health and safety of your animals, please only use our horse products on horses and dog products on dogs. If you need a product for another species, we recommend consulting with your veterinarian first.

What’s the difference between the Fly Away Healing Balm and Fly Away Summer Balm?

While both balms help repel flies and biting insects, their purposes are slightly different. Fly Away Summer Balm is designed primarily as a daily-use insect repellent, perfect for keeping pests away during turnout or rides. Fly Away Healing Balm, on the other hand, is a more intensive skin support formula—made to soothe, protect, and promote healing of minor wounds and irritated or damaged skin. It also repels flies to help keep wounds and sensitive areas insect-free, which is essential for proper healing.

Can the Healing Balm be used directly on open wounds?

Yes, Fly Away Healing Balm is safe to use directly on minor open wounds, scrapes, and bites. Its natural, gentle ingredients—like calendula, aloe vera, and neem—support healing while creating a protective barrier against insects and bacteria. Always clean the area before application and consult a vet for deep or serious wounds.

Can I apply the balm near my horse’s eyes or face?

Yes, but apply carefully and avoid direct contact with the eyes. For sensitive areas like ears and faces, use a small amount and gently rub in.

Can I use the Mane and Tail growth serum on rubbed or bald patches?

Yes! The serum is great for soothing irritated skin, minimising itching and promoting regrowth in rubbed areas such as from blankets or itching.

How long does it take to see results with the Mane & Tail Growth Serum?

While individual results vary, many customers notice reduced itching and improved hair texture within a week or two. Visible growth improvements typically show within 3–6 weeks of regular use.

Will the serum attract dirt or dust?

The serum may attract some dirt or dust, especially in hot, dry climates or if your horse likes to roll. To keep the mane and tail clean and healthy, we recommend washing the area at least once a week using a natural, mild shampoo to gently remove any buildup of oils and debris such as loosened flaky skin.

Are these products safe to use on my horse when they’re in the sun?

Because these products are oil-based, it’s wise to exercise caution when applying them before sun exposure, especially on exposed skin or sensitive areas. While some natural ingredients offer mild SPF protection, we recommend using a sunscreen over the balm or a UV-protective fly sheet to ensure your horse stays fully protected during prolonged time outdoors.

How long does it take to process my order?
